What’s in my Camera Bag

So I’ve made a switch from Canon to Nikon. At one point or another, I would’ve said that I would never do this but those were the days when I wasn’t aware of Canon’s limitations and what suited me more. I went through quite a bit of a change, from owning a single Canon body to having three bodies at one stage. When I shot my first event equipped with a gripped Canon 60D, Sigma  50mm f/1.4 and a Canon 17-55mm f/2.8 I came to a rude awakening that I knew so little about photography.

I immediately knew that I wanted to get better. It is still very much a hobby, it just got a little more serious – not to mention a lot more expensive. I went from having a 60d standard kit to acquiring another Canon 7D, a Speedlite 565ex II and a 70-200mm f/4L IS USM…I almost forgot to mention I also owned an Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 (A brilliant lens) I highly recommend this lens if you’re very much into portraits. On crop sensor this equates to a 136mm focal length at f/1.8. I even considered staying with Canon for this lens, it’s that good.

So it seems my kit was complete, it wasn’t a pro kit but I had to make do. The only lens I didn’t own was UWA, I just couldn’t justify spending around $600 on a lens that I would seldom use. As with everything, I wasn’t quite satisfied with having an 70-200mm f/4  even though the lens was tack sharp, I just couldn’t use it under low light. What I wanted was a f/2.8 with an Image Stabilizer.
