As of 1:30 PM on the 3rd of July 2009, Donna & I officially began owning our first home. It has been a long wait from the time we first put our deposit to finally getting the keys in our hands. Due to the previous owner’s request, the settlement was extended almost twice the amount of time than your standard six weeks. It had its advantages and disadvantages but the wait is definitely worthwhile. Within the first few hours of getting the keys, we were in the house vacuuming, mopping, and wiping dusts off the windows while Michiko walked around the house not knowing that this is now his new home. This was only the third time I’ve seen the house and for some reason it changes every time I see it, some rooms looks bigger while the some parts became smaller.
The house is fairly old and is showing the expected wear & tear but it is structurally sound. We have already found things that we will need to fix but we take it on board as part of being home owners. It is frustrating to always dip into your wallets for cash that we could spend on other things but I think we’re fast learning to accept that this is the way it’s going to be from now on.
